NON-PROFIT, NON-PARTISAN: PEOPLE, NOT POLITCS

We can not stress this one point enough:
this is a non-partisan, non-profit movement with the paramount goal being that all Americans have equal access to our democracy.
Mission Statement of SaveTheVoters.org: SaveTheVoters.org is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that exists to encourage informed and active participation in government, to support detailed voter opinion research to ensure citizen voices are heard and heeded, to engage in advocacy relating to the protection of democratic principles and the sanctity and integrity of our elections, and to influence public policy through voter education.
The overall goal of SaveTheVoters.org is to ensure implementation of fair, accurate, transparent, and secure elections that are accessible to all Americans.
A BRIEF HISTORY

SaveTheVoters.org was originally started by A.S. Achrol and A. Joseph Rao, a scientist studying neurosurgery at Stanford Medical School and a
medical research scientist in Boston. The founders have long pushed for greater access to medical literature and life-saving treatments in the medical sciences
and believe that the concept of
access is one born out of the American way of life and is tied to access and accountability in our democracy.
As a result, they were driven to stand up for the fundamental value of democracy that has made America a symbol of hope and opportunity for all people.
Though they had little political experience, they shared a deep frustration with the partisan warfare in Washington D.C. and the ineffectiveness of
many non-profits who have become so entrenched as political action committees, lobbyists, and supporters of individual candidates that they no longer had the
capacity to act with the interest of real Americans at heart.
In 2008, with millions of voters in Florida and Michigan being disenfranchised of their equal right to access to the voting booth, none of these large non-profit
organizations, which had become so wealthy and powerful with the enthusiastic support of individual American supporters, stepped forward to represent the
real Americans they had promised to defend. It was clear to the founders that the political interests of many of these non-profits outweighed their personal sense
of responsibility to defend their supporters and to represent real Americans in their time of greatest need.
With SaveTheVoters.org, the founders envisioned a movement that, by virtue of its tax-exempt non-profit status, would always be
of the people, for the people and by the people.
Unlike these other non-profits, they vowed to never become consumed with political action lobbying and to never use contributions to engage in partisan
warfare by entrenching the organization behind one candidate. In short, SaveTheVoters.org was organized to focus on
People, not politics; to give a
political voice to the average person in a system dominated by big money and big political interests.
SaveTheVoters.org will provide individuals who normally have little political power an opportunity to aggregate their voices and contributions with those of many others in order
to gain a powerful role in the political process, bringing people together to support people-centered research and education aimed at increasing civic empowerment.
The effort to found SaveTheVoters.org quickly expanded to include founding members in California, Massachusetts, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, and the
District of Columbia. Now the movement is
yours and is entirely sustained by the energy of supporters like you and your love for this country and
all that it can and should be.
